For some people, sleep is just something that you do every night. It just happens and you don't give it a second thought.  For others, it feels like a lifelong puzzle that you need to solve. I have spent most of my life trying to solve the puzzle, which makes me well placed to support you in peeling back all the layers to discover all the factors impacting your sleep and practical ways to support you to better sleep.

How I Work

I support clients with a wide range of sleep concerns, from occasional to chronic insomnia, stress-related sleep issues and difficulties with night time waking to always waking up feeling un-rested. Whether your sleep issues are linked to anxiety, hormonal changes, life events or transitions, health conditions or lifestyle factors, I take an individualised approach and look for all factors that impact your sleep so that we can work on these together.

Initial Sleep Consultation

All sleep clients are encouraged to begin with an initial consultation. During this session, we’ll explore:

  • Your sleep patterns and sleep quality and what you think are your barriers to good restful sleep
  • Emotional and mental wellbeing, ranging from current stress to deep seated emotions from your past
  • Physical health and any underlying conditions, past and present
  • Nutrition and lifestyle factors
  • Any medications or supplements you're currently taking

This conversation helps me recommend the most suitable therapies for your needs and create a personalised plan that supports your sleep naturally in a way that feels achievable.

I may also support you to speak with your GP to book blood tests or if I suspect underlying health issues such as sleep apnoea.

Treatment Options

Reflexology for Sleep & Stress

Reflexology is a soothing therapy that uses pressure points on the feet to support the whole body. Many clients find it helpful for reducing anxiety, calming the nervous system and easing physical tension and pain. This is a great therapy for people that have busy brains and find it difficult to switch off or find themselves ruminating or catstrophising.

Gentle Release Therapy

A gentle therapy that could be considered a mixture of Energy Work and Acupuncture (without the needles).  I have begun to incorporate this treatment more and more as it can release stresses and emotions that are stored deeper in the body which may not be accessed through a reflexology treatment. Gentle Release also works with the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) framework, and it can therefore be useful to consider the TCM clock if you have specific times at night that you struggle to sleep, this may indicate areas of imbalance or stagnation that we can work on during treatments.

In addition to hands-on therapies, I also offer:

  • Sleep hygeine advice - personalised to your circumstances
  • Circadian Rhythm advice and how to implement strategies into your lifestyle
  • Nutrition and exercise advice that is realistic and achievable for you
  • Stress management techniques - personalised to your needs
  • Support with rumination or an inability to switch - personalised to your thought patterns and worries
  • Suggestions for further testing for example, gut health, hormone health or nutritonal deficiences
  • Support you with gentle Sleep Restriction Method approach to fixing chronic sleep problems
